In an effort to attract, retain, develop and promote the most qualified individuals, CoinDesk is committed to treating all applicants and employees in a nondiscriminatory manner with respect to the terms and conditions of employment, without regard to race, color, religion or belief, sex, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status/service, physical or mental disability, or any other classification protected by applicable law. This mandate governs all aspects of employment, including recruitment, selection, promotion, training, education, social and recreation programs, compensation, discipline, termination and access to benefits.
CoinDesk is proactively working to foster, cultivate and propel a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. We understand that in order to achieve our goals, it is imperative to seek diverse perspectives and be inclusive of all our peers. In creating an environment of inclusion, belonging and advancing equity within our organization, CoinDeskers can bring their authentic selves to work, in which their unique and individual experiences together achieve our goals. Through our internal programs and processes, we strive to create an equitable environment in which all employees have access to resources and opportunities they need to succeed. Our goal is to level the playing field so employees of all identities can excel and develop professionally at CoinDesk.
We proactively seek talent from diverse populations to expand our reach as widely as possible and work hard to reach individuals not in our natural networks or talent pools. We challenge ourselves to rise above our own biases by adhering to strict hiring principles and consistent methodologies to yield reliable results. Our interview assessment scorecards are based on the qualifications listed on each job description. We assess ‘Culture Add’ versus ‘Culture Fit’ and challenge each other to be cognizant of our unconscious biases. Beyond hiring, we strive to create an inclusive environment by promoting transparency and accountability through voluntary demographic reporting, to recognize and celebrate the multitude of identities we have here at CoinDesk, and also to further challenge ourselves to be better at attracting, retaining and developing exceptional, diverse talent. CoinDesk recognizes that everyone is different and has their own school of thought; we value differences in opinion and believe healthy debate allows us to listen generously to each other’s perspective. At the same time, we recognize that we have an obligation to do our part in tackling workplace inequity issues. We’ve facilitated training on fighting bias, behaviors of inclusion and feedback skills to ensure all staff enter a similar knowledge journey as they learn to address the nuances and manifestations of bias in a working environment. Training, combined with our effort to drive continuous performance development is at the forefront of what we are trying to achieve to get CoinDeskers rowing in the same direction, on the same boat. We strive to equip managers with the right toolkits to lead effectively and help their teams succeed. At CoinDesk, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to demonstrate success by delivering results, demonstrating respect and assuming positive intent. We will continue to evaluate our Inclusion strategies and leverage the expertise of an outside consultant to identify where we may have blindspots so we can immediately rectify the situation. We aspire for every CoinDesker to feel empowered to share their authentic opinions and provide feedback so we can continuously improve.
We have a long way to go and we’re chipping away at ingraining DEI into our everyday operating philosophy at CoinDesk. We haven’t lost momentum, nor do we plan to: That’s The CoinDesk Way.
